Common Industrial Communication Ports & Protocols
1. RS-232
A short-distance, point-to-point serial communication interface. It is widely used for device debugging, parameter setting and low-speed data transmission, with simple wiring but limited anti-interference ability.
2. RS-485
A differential serial bus standard supporting multi-drop and long-distance communication. Strong anti-interference, low cost, widely used in inverters, sensors, HMI and small control systems.
3. Ethernet (RJ45)
Standard wired Ethernet port for high-speed data transmission, remote monitoring, upper computer connection and factory information integration.
4. EtherCAT
High-performance real-time Industrial Ethernet protocol. Fast response, high synchronization, suitable for high-speed motion control, robotics and automated production lines.
5. Profinet
Industrial Ethernet protocol developed by Siemens, widely used in medium and large automation systems, with good compatibility and stability.
6. Modbus RTU
Serial communication protocol based on RS-485/RS-232, simple and universal, commonly used in field devices and small control systems.
7. Modbus TCP
Ethernet version of Modbus, based on standard Ethernet, easy to integrate and widely used in industrial data acquisition and monitoring.
8. CAN / CANopen
Fieldbus with high stability and anti-interference, widely used in servo systems, elevators, new energy and automotive equipment.
9. Profibus DP
Classic industrial fieldbus, mainly used in medium and large PLC systems, stable and reliable for field I/O and device communication.
10. USB
Universal interface for debugging, program uploading/downloading, data export and connecting peripherals.
